Nouveau 1910 Embujo Necklace / Broach with "Plique 'a Jour" Enamel, Pink Sapphires and micro pave' set Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds .
This necklace measures 3 inches from top to bottom and contains 3 Pink Sapphires and .60 carat total weight of Diamonds with a detachable chain.

Plique 'a Jour enamel is essentially made of a special glass in which metallic oxides are then added at very high temperatures, these oxides form the color. The material is then ground in a agate bowl. To obtain a good "plique 'a jour" the craftsman at Nouveau 1910 fill the small windows in the jewelry with the enamel paste and bake it several times (up to 20 or more) in a special oven that reaches 1,000 degrees celsius, giving the desired tones between reheating. It is this sequence that gives the enamel it's beautiful color, toughness and transparency.
